She also helped her team post a new school record owing to most wins in one season in 2012. Sydel also played cub for Carolina Union. With the team, she attended the nationals level in 2012. During her freshman year, Sydel enjoyed a decent season playing 22 matches in one season. Out of the 22, she earned a starting position in 9 matches. At the same time, she emerged second in assists with a total of 360. She had an average of 5.29 assists per set, tallied 118 digs, and five aces. While her team played against UNC Asheville, Sydel recorded the best and career-high hit of 40 assists in a five-set crash. She also posted a career-high 14 digs at Towson in a four-set match. In the same season, she tallied three double-doubles, earning her the title Most Improved for the team. Sydel’s sophomore year became her breakout. This was the year when she became a starter, officially. She earned the start in 24 matches out of 28 that year. She was in charge of propelling the team forward and enabled it to get to number five in the ranking with 851 assists. In February 2017, Sydel became the topic of discussion in the athletic field. It was then when she announced that she was retiring from playing volleyball. When asked about it, she later came clean and attributed her decision to an injury that had kept her away from the field. Sydel was dating Ricky Brown, a footballer for a brief period after which they fell out. They eventually broke up after which she found the love of her life and her current fiancé Damion Lee. She met Damion in 2011. The fiancé plays in the D-league with the Maine Red Claws team. They got engaged in November 2017 and fans are waiting for their wedding.
